What fish can be kept in an 8 gallon tank?

From what I read in a book, fish should have at least one to two gallons of water for each inch they are excluding the tail. So if a fish is two inches long, then it needs two gallon of water.

I don't really remember, but it was either one gallon for freshwater and two for saltwater fish, or two for freshwater and one for saltwater fish.

It would make a very nice betta tank, and you could have shrimp in there as well.

What are the dimensions?

-I would stick with the above suggestion. Hex tanks don't have much surface area.
