I live in Tamp bay florida, and i often go out and fish inshore off a cannal, right where the ocean opens up tho, not back on the cannals, the beach is just a few hundred yards up.
I keep catching these fish ALL THE TIME that look like a mangrove snapper but isnt, the fish just looks snapper to me i guess!
anyways the only good way to describe them is that they have very pretty noticible blue "markings" or stripes along their whole head, only on the head.
I am catching him off some rocks that house many oysters, other fish i catch their are flounder, snook, mangrove snapper, rarely a tarpon... if that helps you.
The fish is pretty silvery looking scales but with another color mixed in that i cant really remember, its not pure silver tho.
