I tried taking a sick day off since my daughter was sick earlier this week. Keep in mind, I have been with the same company for 8 years, and have never had this problem. They are now saying I cannot use my sick time b/c I was the one not sick, my daughter was. I have to use a vacation day for her begin sick! This is outrageous. Our policy does say sick time is used for 'personal illness or injury.' I was sick as a dog before Christmas, I went to work! I do not use my sick time on ME I use it on my children, which might be once every six months. This sounds very discriminatory to me, as being women are ones who take off for their sick children, granted, there are dads who so the same, but a majority our women. My debate is-there is nothing more PERSONAL to me then my CHILDREN!
