Hello all- As most of you are probably a bit more "on the ball" can someone please tell me what the "mailbox" icon in my messages folder does ?
I have tried to set it up but hit an obstacle in the first round;
It asks me to define the Internet protocol used to transfer e mail and then there are 2 choices:
IMAP 4 or POP3 ???
Which would I choose and most of all if I can check my e mail with Yahoo Go ! which I have and use, do I even need this mailbox thingy ????

Cheers all, LL-

What email client are you trying to set up within the mailbox. Gmail and AOL are both IMAP 4 I believe if that's any help. I know that if you search hofo and put "(your email host here) email settings" you should be able to find some decent info from members that have already got theirs up and running.

Gmail is POP3 actually. Instructions for setting up a gmail account if you have one can be found here: https://mail.google.com/support/bin/topic.py?topic=1555

If you're using the Yahoo! Go thing then no, you don't need this. This Mailbox is if you want to check external mail (not web based) or want to "pop" your web-based mail (like gmail). Think of it like Outlook on your s60.

I've mentioned this on another thread but here I go again..

I've seen other n93 users' Active Standby display new Emails. How can I add that on mine? I have Gmail set up with the built in client and set to auto update but it doesnt show on my active standby screen.

I dont think any of the N Series phones are capable of this. My N73 wasnt and My current N80 is not able to do it either. My E61 had the option but I dont believe the N93 does.

OK, it seems that if I have Yahoo Go ! then I don't need this but may just set it up anway just to check it out !!!
Thanks for the help everyone !

Cheers, LL-

Did that. Went through settings, nothing about posting new received emails on active standby. I already have my inbox added on the quick links of the active screen.

They really arent that different but those are one of the few. Nokia just likes to be wacky. The N series are just as capable of being a business driven phone. The E70 and E61 up the anty by adding the qwerties. The E60 and E50 are only considered E's as they are banking on many business users wanting a more sleek and streamlined phone as opposed to the thick N80 or HUGE N90's or N93's. Other than that they support the same applications and pretty much do the same thing. I thought the E61 could easily have been an Nseries phone with a nice camera and FM radio. The screen was perfect for viewing movies and videos and the keyboard for web surfing and posting. I used it for multimedia purposes as much as I did for work.
