used for something? It was the railroad during the Japanese Occupation in World War 2. The Prisoners of War (P.O.Ws) were sent to Thailand to construct this railroad. It was estimated that they completed in in only 16 months when it was expected to finish it in 5 years. The whole project cost the lives of thousands of people who worked on the railway and became known as the Death Railway.
