What events and activities do/did you have at your school?

Mathmatics, Pennmanship, Grammar, History, Science. Those are the important "Activities" schools should be focused on, not dances and other garbage.
 
Around 6th grade. Such as dances and career day and stuff like that. Anything interesting? I'm curious and might use similar things in my book series. Thanks for any answers in advance. :)
