Hi,

I am an amatuer photographer & I recently bought a Pentax Kx DSLR with standard lens kit. I will be photographing events, music festivals & nightclubs / pubs. Do I need to purchase an external flash? Should I even be shooting with a flash at nightclubs as I've heard it annoys people?

Can anyone give me some advice as to the equipment I might need & possibly camera settings. I have read alot of information & people are reccomending completely different techniques.

The company I am going to be working for understand I am an amatuer with minimum experience. However, I think they will still expect to get a few decents shots out of me.

Any help would be much appreciated.
The camera with 18-55mm lens + I have 2 sigma lenses from my 35mm Pentax SLR. However, would a Pentax dedicated flash for a 35mm SLR be compatible with my Pentax KX DSLR?

You have pretty much what you need ... add a Pentax dedicated flash and Gary Fong diffuser and you should be set. Oh and don't forget a few memory cards.

You failed to mention the lens you have. But in general a zoom in the 24-70 mm range is just fine.

You will need an assistant to ask people if you can take their photos and hand out your cards ... you will NOT have time.

I was wondering the same thing. I used to take photographs for a website but my nightime photographs suck!!! When i use the "night mode" the lights look so bad in the pics and when i don't use the night mode they just look grainy
