What engine/trans combo would you put in a 1999 Jeep Wrangler (TJ)?

STOCK 1999 Jeep Wrangler (TJ) that needs a motor and trans soon. I am a computer nerd with weak wrenching skills. I want to put Rubicon rims/tires (31") on it. What motor/trans would you put? Any proven or tried n' true combos you can tell me about? Any help at all would be great.
