Hi all.
During my last japanese class at uni my teacher quickly mentioned that each of the prefixes in the japanese words for days actually have a meaning behind them. It was really quick and in a way irrelevant to learning the names for the days, but later on I became intruiged about it and tried looking up these meanings. I've found them for all the days except 'doyoubi'.
So if anyone on YA could explain what the 'do' means in 'doyoubi', that'd be great. Also, are my other interpretations correct?
Getsu - Moon
Ka - Fire
Sui - Water
Moku - Earth / Wood
Kin - Gold
Do - $dontKnow
Nichi - Day / Sun
