Generically speaking the CFO is in charge of the treasurer, who manages cash flow, capital budgeting, and financing activities. and the controller, who is in control of making the financial statements and booking systems. Basically they oversee the financial operations of the company. Like singing checks or financial planning for the company.

Runs the finances, just like you manage you bank account and your expenses and income in your home. A CFO manages the money of a business, in recent times, fraudlent account could be a huge concern, also not having the capital required to keep the lights on and the business open, because of to much spending and not managing the money correctly. Lots of concerns.
