Can someone from ontario tell me what it means to have a vehicle safetied and e-tested. When you buy a vehicle what does it mean it isn't safetied or is safetied, how often do you get a car safetied. What happens or can you buy a car that is not safetied.
moving soon and don't understand the add's. how much does it cost, is it done by goverment private etc.
thanks so much

e-test i believe is making sure it meets the environmental standards. If not I don't think you can legally drive it. I believe an e-test goes for around $40ish. Safetied i would just be guessing makes sure it is not unsafe to drive.

Yes you can buy cars that havn't been tested but I dont think you can drive them until they are so if you buy one and it wont pass could be a large cost to get it to pass.

lol wtf? first of all, canada has a conservative government not a liberal government. second of all, all those licencing stuff is incharge of the provincial government, not the federal government. see what happens when american's try to act smart!! lol just kidding.

anyways, i know e-test means "emission testing". every couple years ever vehicle that is less than 20 years old has to get an emission test to ensure that the emissions comming out of your car's tail pipe is within the province's standards.

not exactly sure of "safetied"...maybe to make sure everything's working? cause i remember before when my dad was buying a car, he needed a mechanic to make sure the brakes were working or something, can't really remember exactly, it was a while ago. just ask the owner to be sure.

anyways, its good if a car was e-tested because you won't have to go through the hassle of doing it yourself. even if you do have to do it, its only around $30-40.
