I am trying to determine if I need a new hard drive without getting a diagnostic test done to save money. First, sometimes it says disk read error and other times mostly now, says insert boot media...and press a key. I also have a message to press alt +f10 and then says some stuff and says "Media test failure, check cable". what does this mean? I have an acer desk top. it will not boot up alt+f10 does not work, nor can I get it into safe mode. It is a black screen. If I get a new hard drive and find out it is not the problem, can I return it?
