what does it mean when you turn signal flashes really fast?

i have a 2000 plymouth neon and just recently my right turn signal started flashing really rapidly. It only does it sometimes and not all the time. the other times it blinks at normal speed. When it blinks rapidly the signal in the back does not show up but the one in the front does, when it blinks at normal speed everything works fine. sometimes it will blink fast and as im turning a corner it will go back to normal. what could be the cause of this and what can i do to fix it.
 
Sounds like you got poor ground on the rear signal if all the lamps flash the flasher goes at normal speed one lamp not working it goes really fast thats so you know you have a problem.Good luck.
