What does it mean when we go on bicycle dates?

We live across the street from each other, and just recently met almost 2 months ago. We see each other in passing and will walk over and talk to each other. He reads books so we traded books one time, and we also are into planting. He's 28, I'm 27.

He asked to go on a bike ride a few days ago and it ended up being several hours, after which he took me to a coffee shop nearby and bought me an iced tea. I said no, but he insisted. We talked and agreed we wanted to see this art exhibit now showing and I said we should go and he was all for it.

Yesterday he asked if I wanted to go on another ride with him and his friend, and again it was several hours just riding and enjoying the scenic trail. We hugged afterwards. He usually gives awkward sideway hugs and high fives, but they're gradually getting to be more "full on" hugs.

I haven't had a friendship like this with a guy in a long while, so I'm wondering, is he sort of feeling me out and then he will make his move? I find all of these outdoor activities and the slowness of getting to know each other endearing and I just hope he feels the same way. Usually, guys go too fast for me before we even know if we have anything in common.
Also, when I first met the friend he brought along (the day we first biked) when he found out who I was he said how much he had heard about me from this guy and started to smile and they both sort of laughed.
