what does it mean when people say"German sounds harsh and militant"?

I just read a question here about how Swedish sounds to non native speakers---and she mentioned that German sounds harsh and militant.WHAT does HARSH and MILITAN mean here ?Thank you
 
It just comes off as a strong language to others, it once did to me. Once I started learning it two years ago, that whole 'harsh and militant' description quickly vanished and now it just sounds natural, and well, NOT HARSH. It sounds like a regular language once you get to know it, if that makes any sense lol...
 
well, I think it sounds very strict, like people are giving demands when they speak it. and it also sounds sorta angry due to the hard consonant sounds. ok? maybe you should answer my question as well? :)
