what does it mean when a guy says he's 'bad news'?

after a lot of hugs and hand holding with this guy he didnt want to kiss me because i was drunk, he said we should wait.
then i told him i couldnt get him out of my head and he said he was 'bad news' and that he'd done some bad things
but still he hugged me so tight..

what does this mean? im very confused
