What does it mean if the airbag light comes on in a 2003 ford escape?

Alot of times it will blink a code to you. but yeah, it's pretty much the same as a check engine light, Theres some sort of electrical problem associated with it probably. They can pull a code from it and tell you what the problem is.

It came on once about 3 weeks ago and hadn't done it again till last night. I'm going to take it to the dealer when I have the time to do so. Any idea what it means?
