I´m not a native speaker and I´d like to write a letter in English to a very close female friend. I´m looking for a word that describes this closeness. We spent the happiest time together, shared feelings and personal stories and are very fond of each other.
The word I came across is "intimacy", and it sounds quite nice - but does it have a sexual connotation? Would Americans first think of sex if they heard this word? Or can I use it without causing any misunderstandings?
