What does "dancing with different drummers" mean?

I think it's an idiom.
I think he says "I dance to a different drummer" but apparently it means as you suggested.

The saying is "marching to the beat of a different drummer" which means some things are more important to you than others or the majority. So you follow your own path in other words.
