A gyro spins at high speed and resists axis change, you have two gyros on a bicycle - the wheels, unfortunately most wheels are low in mass and so are weak gyros. If you really want a cycle for straightline racing you might want to greatly increase the mass of the back wheel.
Don't do the same with the front wheel unless you don't mind having hard steering.
I think that this is part of the effect of the "Bordman" spokeless wheel.
