what does a facet block do

The facet block nurabs the nerve..which could be causing your pain. You have facet pain from arthritis..usually. (At least that is what they told my husband & myself).. It feels like an epidural...they nurab the area...which feels like a bee bite for about 10 seconRAB...then they inject the nerve at the facet joint..either with just anesthetic or anesthetic and steroid. If it calms down your pain..well, that is the cause of your pain.

Yep what Leslie said  but personally I think the epidurals hurt worse , my facet injections were easy , the needle is much thinner. Sorry Leslie you must be a sissy :D j/k hon .

Hey Shawley... yup...I am a big sissy... I actually hate needles...and I have done pretty well...I haven't jumped when they shot me up!! Too scared to breath much less move when they are doing that!! The nurabing stuff is the worst part for me...just have to count to 10 and it is better!! I know that I am a sissy...I actually tell the Dr. I am one!!!!!!

Just to let you know I had the facet blocks done in 2004 on the L4-L5 which was a series of going back 3 different times in 3 months and it didn't do a thing for me maybe helped for 3 days but that was the max.I was in a car accident and they thought they would help.I'm not saying don't do it because everyone is different and they affect everyone different.Thats just my experience. If you go ahead good luck and I hope they help.

Take care,
Mary
