What do you think the out come of rising gas prices will do to our country?

I have a really bad feeling that the rising gas prices will destroy our country. Everything is constantly going up in price to compensate for the added cost. Do you think that we are headed for a depression? And what do you think that we as a collictive can do to make a stand and fight the gouging?
