A little figurine
Sitting atop my mantle
Makes not a sound,
Inhales the beauty that surrounds him,
Takes in the sights,
Day and Night.
Through a fractured window pane,
He watches one sparrow fly as many,
One drop of rain fall as twenty.
It makes no difference to him.

Makes no sudden movements,
Welcomes the imperfections that have found him,
Tells not a soul,
He knows not his Role.

He watches cracks grow in the road,
Watches steady corrosion of trees unfold.

Feels not a thing,
Embraces the nature that surrounds him,
Gets lost in all of it,
Worships none of it.

He watches all the Earth eroding,
A telling vision not foreboding.
