I am in 11th Grade AP English Language & Composition, and we had to write a poem about food as a metaphor. Read this and tell me what grade you would give me from the perspective of an AP English teacher. (Also any other feedback would be appreciated)

Sweet Tea, a Southern Thing.

It’s a soda with no bubbles, a soft drink with no name;

A masked warrior of a healthy beverage.

Mascaraded with the thick caramel coloring, the heaping cups of sugar,

but it isn't the same.

It is too delicate to be dispensed by machine like the rest,

It is an illusion, a pleasant drink with an old fashion taste, but still tastes the best.

It is an escape from the bubbles of Coke and Sprite, a new way to reach satiety,

It always feels just right.

The simple recipe:

A little water with a bag seeping with sweetness, heated on the stove in a kettle of steaming water.

There is nothing I know more than a glass of iced tea;

It is like a lost family member that hiding in the warm south, and I have just found it.

It is the ailments of a soft drink that make tea the unmistakable replacement for me.

As the name suggests, like a warm southern countryside where tea is brewed like caramel chocolates.

The sweetness of sugar mixed with the gentleness of grandma’s tea.

Not a soda, a southern thing, now for me.
