Obsession.
A bird, beating against my brain,
Digging out what I've tried so hard to bury,
Sloshing around the wet earth as he shares with me
This taboo treasure that trumps the taste
Of the anger I swallow, as he flaunts in my face
This treasure he's found, it's strangling me
With this choking chapter.
I've tried to keep it closed so long.
Until he interrupts my life with an eruption of want.
And it's the want that keeps me going.
It's that want that keeps me going.
When I drone past my life,
I wait for the wanting,
To find its way free
From that hole, and it haunts me.
