Without you

I toss and turn at night
The sleep fails to arrive
I turn my mind to joyful things
But then they slip my mind
The fearful wind blows my way
My despair keeps me awake

What would I do without you?
Without the compassion, without the adoration?
Could I survive if you failed to arrive?

The sunshine would fade away
And the heavy rains would surge
I would find my self melting away
What could I do without you?

You have been with me since I was born
Delivered me into this world
You have given me the necesseties of life
Gratefullness pours out of me

But if one day you were to perish
A piece of me would tumble and shatter
One part of me would follow you to heaven
The rest would live in agony
Yes, this is what I truely fear

Oh, what would I do without you?
Please, don't leave me, whatever you do
Because I don't know what I would ever do without you

i read your poems. it almost made me cry, but do not take this as a criteria for it. i am such a crying -sentimental person!.
I think is beautiful. It has motion and emotion. It flows like a soft breeze in full winter. But please do not take my opinion too seriously, since I am not a published author.i just love poetry, and like to write as well.
It also has "rhythem " and some endings rhyme swifly and beautifully, it sounds like " free verse" to me. By " free verse' i mean that you may not adhere to the old rules of poetry writing. The tradition was that the poets must follow - some rules of rhyme, metric and so on. but luckily for some writer lovers of poetry, you do not have to write a poem following a recipe like if you are doing bread. Poetry is not like an essay. It just an expression or a way to express your feeling s in a different way.
If I understood it well , it's a poem written by a person to his mother.
It reminds me of a post card my son sent me that says (among others words)-" you are the best ...the very best...". and other things or terms of endearment you write to your mother , but feel "corny" by telling them face to face.
In another ocassion my oldest one said , referring to a mother of a relative that had just die- " when a mother dies it is like part of oneself also dies..." Your poem really touched me by bringing nice memories of mother -son love I like it! The message is there.
This is my favorite verse/ or part of the poem
The sunshine would fade away
And the heavy rains would surge
I would find my self melting away
What could I do without you?

Thank you!

it was just beautiful, charged with emotions and rythmic. if the poem is of your authorship... keep it up.

The poem is good
and all you wanna say is that you love him alot and cant bear the fact of him being far away for even a second.
