what do you think of this photo and it's edit?

taken with a point and shoot kodak; edited with ps 5.0
i know it's not great; but I want some opinions?
 
the light in the background tells a different story. i personally like the pre-edit version better only bcuz the shadows on the face and eyes are sharper and the background matches the subject. the edited picture LOOKS edited and thats always a no-no.
