I think they are brilliant!
its in politics as we all know the problems oil dependence has caused, and they are green....

To expensive to make a bit of difference in our energy usage. The people who are rich enough to afford them, don't want them.

They are crap. I want my big V8 F-150.

Actually I would like a turbo diesel running vegy oil and bacon fat. Volkswagen / Audi has some good ones. What's wrong with a multi-fuel engine that will run anything that happens to be the cheapest?

goes on sale in November 2010 priced at $40,000. what the hell? 40,000? who the heck is going to pay 40,000 lets see toyota pruis 24,000 Chevy 40,000 lets do the math lets say the average daily compute is 25 miles with the prius getting 45mpg and lets pretend for a moment that in 2010 Obama taxes gas up to 10 a gallon!!!!. every day you would use .55 gallons in the prius that would cost 5.50 a day in gas now just for simplicity lets say we work 5 days a week all year long it would cost us 1,430 a year in gas at 10 a gallon soo it would take 11.18 years to brake even in money if you were getting the electricity for free to just brake even on the money saved in gas

Electric cars are not as green as people think. the batteries for instance are toxic waste. and yes they shift us away from foreign oil but they will cause a very significant drain on our ability to generate electricity (if widely used) this means burning more coal causing more pollution or shifting our dependence on foreign oil to foreign natural gas. most of the worlds supply is controlled by russia. and the price of natural gas is much more volatile than the price of oil.

then there are the other economic factors, the government is already talking about tax increases because of lower revenues from gasoline taxes. And what most people do not know when they buy an electric or hybrid car are the insurance costs. accidents that are minor repairs on a conventional vehicle are catastrophic to an electric or hybrid. A minor fender bender usually leads to the vehicle being totaled. If these vehicles are widely adopted as a replacement for conventional vehicles this will cause huge environmental problems because like i said earlier the batteries are toxic waste.

Electrics and hybrids are a good start to trying to move forward but are not the answer.

All show no go. Obama whats to tax coal burning electric plants out of business. Will it cost more to charge this car, or fill your tank with gas today.

At the present moment there very little demand for electric cars. If the big three think that's their meal ticket, they are in for a surprise.
