What do you think of people in high school?

from experience, what do you think? I have been realizing that sometimes people that act tough are actually nice and very capable of feeling emotion, and that sometimes people who act like jerks turn out to be not so bad. you see that who other people call nerds turn out to be pretty cool. I have been noticing that people in my school aren't so childish as they used to be; they are actually pretty accepting of who you are, and I go to a redneck school in NC where you would least expect people to be accepting. I am seeing that people who you thought wouldn't help you if you were dying on the floor actually do feel compassion. I am basically seeing that the closer to graduation you get, the more people's true colors surface. Would you say this is true or not?
I am getting this from close personal observation...A lot of people are not willing to let go of their fake personalities and I know some people I know will never change...but some people I know are actually gradually beginning to soften up and not care what others think so much

Most people don't seem to evolve, socially, past the high school level. You seem to be an exception. It's is good to always keep an open mind about other people, but at the same time you need to protect yourself.
In high school you are only just learning how the social structure of your society works. Most kids will find themselves in slot and will either just accept it and stay there or they will grow and learn that they don't have to be just a jock, nerd or whatever. Those are the people you want to be around.
You're very lucky that you and your classmates seem to be growing up so well.
