The Good Old Days
I remember it clearly
I remember when I met you and her, two of the coolest individuals I’d ever met
How we had no worries, as long as we were together I felt fearless
I remember how we used to slack off during the most serious moments and constantly laughing
I remember those inside-jokes that nobody understood except us
I remember going to my house after school and making her frozen chicken nuggets with mountains of ketchup, while you preferred drinking all of my milk instead
I remember feeling like a total badass when I didn’t turn in a homework assignment, as much of the paranoid freak that I was, you guys taught me it was okay to break the rules once in a while
I thought our friendship couldn’t get any better, instead it got worse
I remember when I had to leave
I remember coming back thinking everything would be the same
I remember how everything changed
Our friendship started to die, I felt it coming
Through everything, she left us and you were the only one who stayed
Because we promised we would be Best Friends Forever
So I’ve learned that we grow up and move on, that promises are broken
So I thank you, thank you for those unforgettable memories, the advice, everything
I remember it perfectly now, how we used to be the best of friends back in the good old days
