I saw a human die today.
It gave up, right on the gurney.
Life vanished, It gave up,
Down on its back with its head tilted up.
Tubes with more life than it
Controlled its last breath.
Family confused at its vanished role.
Pain cracked faces with sad bitter confusion.
Why’s flooded the room,
Hearts skipped beats.
I took a broken deep breath and turned away.
Disconnected emotions stung me,
Weakened nerves seemed in control.
Death was near.
