Silent shadows are in the sand
Silent shadows are in the sand
Watching us and shaking hand
We betrayed them, we took their land
For guilt shed is conscience lost
Our eyes sealed shut with rose tinted frost
The sands are red but dark in hue
The pieces are lost, we have no glue
Freedom has gone and wealth abounds
Not a whisper nor any sounds
For joyous smiles are hard to find
Through a sea of greedy blind
The once beguiling singing of the nightingale
Now sounds like a wailing beggar, weak and frail
For a monster crunches numbers for the crown
You better pretend to be benighted or they’ll whip you down
Freedom here is just an ideal
Some magical entity we wish to feel
We grasp it close and touch its pelt
But growls and snarls are all we are delt
Watching solemnly as it turns it’s spotted tail and flees
We whisper knowing that the betrayal is the disease
Silent shadows are in the sand
