I assume you mean the gender status as opposed to just androgynous looks! I think you should do it about how products are marketed (that's sociology, right? I've never done sociology, so...), formative experiences in life (if you can find any androgynes to interview), and how culture and religion facilitate such a thing. Also, if you can, find some figures about the sexual orientation of the androgynes (in my experience they are more prone to asexuality and pansexuality than most).
