I'm not sure if I want to be a physical therapist or a physical therapist assistant. In order to become a physical therapist assistant you have to obtain an associates degree from an accredited school. In order to become a physical therapist you need to get a bachelor's degree and then progress on to an accredited graduate school. If i went with the physical therapist route then I would want to major in exercise science. I think that it would be a very suitable major for me and I feel that I would really enjoy it, and I am even kind of excited about it. The problem is I don't want to waste money by getting my bachelor's degree and then decide I would rather be a physical therapist assistant. What do you think I should do? PTA about $40,000 a year. PT about $70,000 a year. I'd be content with the $40,000 but who couldn't use the extra 30? haha. Oh by the way how do you think I could manage the physical therapist route judging by my high school performance? 3.804 GPA. 5th out of 97 in my class. Taking AP Calculus and AP Spanish this year (senior year). I have a either a very high 3.9 or a 4.0 in my science classes. Around a 3.7 or 3.8 in my math classes. 1600 on SAT planning on retaking it though.
