What bothers me is, why weren't all these republicans demanding more border security when Bush was in office. It's all political and no one wants to do anything. I say man machine guns and gun them down before they can cross the border. Mexico is the biggest enemy this country has and our government won't admit it. While we make busts on the idiot with one drug, millions of dollars of drugs are brought into the country on a regular basis.

...Obama's border is securer than ever? Border Patrol agents, Texas Rangers and and Mexican drug runners left at least three of the drug traffickers wounded, the Department of Public Safety said Thursday.

DPS spokeswoman Tela Mange said the gunfire broke out somewhere in Hidalgo County early Thursday but could not be more specific for security reasons and said she had no information on whether any of the U.S. officers were wounded.

Hidalgo County Sheriff Lupe Trevino said the shootout occurred in the Hidalgo County community of Abram and said none of the U.S. law enforcement personnel was injured.

He said the operation involved Texas Rangers, Texas Parks and Wildlife game wardens and the U.S. Border Patrol and that sheriff's deputies were among those on the scene “after the fact.”

Mange said shootout came when officers participating in a multi-agency “Texas Ranger Reconnaissance” operation attempted to stop a large drug load from coming across the river.

Officers arrived in three patrol boats after spotting a suspicious vehicle on the U.S. bank of the river and two boats full of drugs on the water, and “received heavy gunfire from the Mexico side” while attempting to interdict the boats, she said.

It was unclear what happened to the wounded or whether arrests were made. Mexican authorities were notified of the abandoned boat loads of drugs and were on the scene, the DPS said.

U.S. Sen. John Cornyn, R-Texas, called it a “brazen attack” and added, “Cartel-related violence along our border is real and escalating, and the Administration cannot continue to deny it when American lives — particularly those of our law enforcement – are directly in harm’s way.”

Gov. Rick Perry in September of 2009 announced the establishment of the reconnaissance teams to bolster what he said were inadequate federal resources along the Texas-Mexico border.

The teams, comprised of Texas Rangers and Texas National Guard Counterdrug forces, are deployed to high-traffic, high-crime areas to help stem the flow of contraband, according to an agency news release.

A multi-agency investigation is under way, including the Customs and Border Protection, Texas Department of Public Safety and the FBI.

I think the border patrol need bigger guns. 25 mm chain guns would discourage people shooting at them, so would RPGs.

@ Hey, Jackie! Did you miss it? We were. Let's deal with facts, ok?

Obama has been in office for over 30 months. At what point does does it become Obama's responsibility ? Does it matter what Bush did or did not do, Bush is gone and Obama indicated he wanted to be the president of America and every problem , Obama reflects any problems back to Bush. Obama apparently is incapable of holding office, if all he can do is blame Bush for his every set back. Obama is the one who said the border is more secured than ever, he was in EL Paso laughing and smiling and making jokes about how funny it was the America people wanted to say the border was not secured and Obama goes on to say, everything he has done has made the border more secure than ever and let's pass immigration reform. Now we keep hearing this latest incident is Bush's fault because 5 years ago this did not happen. I guess If Obama stands a chance to stay in office for 4 more years, he might take the responsibility for all of American's problems. Obama cannot blame Bush for his every problem. 30 months on the job and Obama is still dazed and confused. He blames Bush for everything.

Jacki is kinda right-not one President in my life time has done a damn thing to secure the borders. But lets face the facts something needs to be done, so why keep passing the bucket.Obama is the man up their now so its his job to make sure we Americans are safe.If we can make sure Iraqi's are safer then why not us.I live in Texas and hear and see reports like this almost daily but the media would rather report on what Michelle is wearing then reporting on the dangers of our border.I guess until a member of the "Washington people" are hurt or killed nothing will be done.Obama was in Texas recently and side stepped questions about security and had the nerve to only make a joke of it.Will I don't find it funny especially since we just recently had an illegal rape 3 young boys here where I live and before he could be caught ,across the border he went and now he cant be found.Nice huh.If we can police the world then at least we can do is start at home on our borders.
