Her heart pumped too fast as his black truck pulled into the gravel parking lot, kicking dust and rocks into the humid summer eves air. She pulled the hot key of the
ingetion and wrapped the keys around her neck, sporting it in the lastest fashion. clicking the lock button, a small chip rose from the civic informing everyone
within earshot that the car, was indeed, locked. Without missing a beat, a laugh irrupted from beside her, sending the interal butterflies into corkscrews yet again.
"I always know its you, even if your rows away from me. That gay chirp gets me everytime" He said as he leaned against the red paint smiling like some fool who had
just won the jackpot at the casinos.
"And I always know its you because you're the only one who would find that humorus" She said, as the butterflies came in for a landing. she looked at him for the first
time, and the butterflies were instantly set back in motion. There was nothing perfect about him, except that he was who he was. That's all she could ask for, ever.
He began to wander towards the sidewalk that snaked between grass and the muddy shore of the lame excuse for a lake. She fingered the class ring hanging from her keys
and began to follow suit. The summer sun floated above the trees, yawning as if to ask "Can I punch out early?" She couldn't agree more, just
praying for a glimmer of darkness to enveople this section of the universe just to hid the crimson blush of her skin that he always seemed to bring about.
The pair walked in silence not wanting to bring up a conversation that may or may not over flow into the past week's happenings. As the sun lingered at the horizon line
,waiting for some unknown force to punch the clock out button on this hemisphere, the butterflies huddled around a low steady fire that burned in the pit of her chest.
She glanced up from the class ring that was still tied to her neck and now looped around her ring finger too see him eyeing the odd arangement. At that instant, the
slow steady fire turned into a forest fire that instantly conqured her cheeks, easily displaying the flush of her face to him. A chuckle rummbled in his chest.
Instanously, the fire that built up in her face was wasted by the thought of the words "Someone to be my better half. you're pretty much my best girlfriend and
i'd totally like you" running through his head in the past week. Her body stiffened, leaning away from his warmth, and her eyes shut keeping the same waters that
wasted the interal fire from escaping. and he noticed.
