Smokes don't bother me because it is a useless vice that never appealed to me.

You are right these commie rat bastards are going to eventually tax everything to fund their hairbrained schemes.

From food to drinks to services they will grab at and tax everything and the numb skulls who voted them in will stand around like the dumb mooks they are and vote for them again during election time.

The battle is against crooked power hungry politicians and the ignorant knuckleheads who put them in power.

so wednesday the govt is raising tax fro 39 cents to $1.01 per pack to fund his health care. So whats he going to tax next if everybody decides to quit smoking? I lived in Cleveland when they had the bright idea to raise taxes excessively on smokes. Three months later they were on the news whimping because everybody quit or switched to another vise. Are the drinkers next?

don't know where u live... but there is like over a $3.50 tax on cigs here
cigs cost $8 or $9

quit complaining... about spare change... NEXT!!!

It's his way of taxing & punishing the hard working, with few pleasure to make up for all his cronies that do not pay taxes. He is the great dictator who cares about nothing but himself. From experience, he knows how difficult it is to break the cigarette habit, but hell, he don't have to pay for his smokes because the poor and working class will pay to support his habits, parties, travels, etc.

If you are not wealthy you better start to realize he does not give a darn about you.

I am not in favor of any tax which unfairly targets a single industry. I also believe that there will be no significant tax revenue to justify the increase. Smokers have finally had enough and many are plotting new ways to cope with the financial burden - like buying their smokes in Mexico, on military bases, Indian reservations, etc... In other words, they have no intention of paying more taxes.

I have heard a number of my neighbors are planning to raise their own organic tobacco. They should have done this a long time ago. How hard could it be??? Others are simply tired of the struggle to justify making any effort at all to cope and are quitting the habit of smoking. For those who are already "NON SMOKERS," you can prepare to have a lot of angry and ill tempered folks around you who are forced to quit their smoking habit. NO MORE MR NICE GUY who was easy going and content to light up a cigarette to ease away the stress of his daily routine.
