what do you think about the media defining beauty?

im aware that white women dominates the screen, in terms of modern beauty.... not saying theyre the most attractive in the world.... but i always wondered..... scientifically speaking (not a racist question), is there truly a dominant beauty? i mean some beauty i know is based on instinct, like a women having bigger breasts, a type of body, and other features..... just like how animals like female crabs get attracted to males with bigger claws, and whales find obesity a beauty, and how cicadas and dragonflies identify, differentiates, or distinguishes between different sounds they make.....

so to make my question SIMPLE.... its ignorant to say what race is more attractive, but what does human nature really favor??
i know that media can mess with your mind, from what i learned....

anyone can help me find more understanding??
 
In the past lighter skin was a sign of wealth and status. If you could afford to stay inside all day at your leisure and pay servants to go out outside and do everything for you from shopping, cooking, farming, taking care of livestock etc then you would not tan but rather maintain a pale complexion. This is true in many cultures around the world. Fair skin became a sign of wealth. (And itsn't it interesting that the word "fair" also means "beautiful"?) While this is not longer the case today, (now a days it seems like everyone wants to be tan) some cultures still place high value on having lighter skin. Some girls even buy creams to lighten their skin. I know my Indian friend does, and a few of my Asian friends consider themselves better looking with pale milk white skin rather than a tan.
 
No, there is not any dominant beauty lol ive seen hispanic girls that are more beautiful then white girls ive seen white girls that are more beautiful then hispanic girls etc..
 
Of course looks portrayed in the media can influence what kind of women a person looks for. When it comes down to the way we act, speak, and the way we do things, it is all influenced by role models in your life. Whether it's a close family member or Hollywood star, well, it's your choice.

If you want to go into the science of peoples looks and then the attraction that follows. Many scientists believe that men are attracted to women with fairly large hips because of the woman's chances in surviving childbirth. A woman with large hips will naturally have an easier childbirth with less complications, so less risk of dying. That makes them the ideal mate. It's a theory though.
