I just want you to know.
I have been working at Tsukiji fish market for almost two years.
In Japan, only major companies keep the labor low.
Small companies like mine don’t keep it mostly.
-I work for seven hours a day without break, without lunch time
Some staffs work twelve hours
-We am not allowed to take any days off even for weddings or funerals
-Timecards were abandoned (We can’t prove how many hours we work)
-No pay for overwork (We can’t prove it because we don’t have timecards.)
-No health check (We had before.)
-We are not allowed to read company rules.
(The employer doesn’t want to show rule books to us because they assure workers rights.)
I visited a labor office, but nothing has changed.
There is no penalty if you don’t obey labor office’s correction order.
Or the fine is just a little. Employers chose to pay fine.
They can keep forcing their employees to work illegally just by paying a little fine.
Japan is not a country ruled by low.
