I feel that the Simpsons has a much smarter humor and stronger plotline, while Family Guy is good for a quick stupid laugh. The Simpsons may not be so great right now, but that's because they've been out for over 21 years. Classic Simpsons are untouchable.
Also, I feel that Simpsons characters are three dimensional while Family Guy is full of two dimensional (sometimes one dimensional) characters.
