What do you need to score on the ASVAB to get into the Army or Marines?

I'm in the ANG, and I know in order to get into the ANG I had to score at least a 50. But, my roommate is thinking about joining the active army, or the marines. I heard that to join the active army or marines, you only need an ASVAB score of 31, is this true?
