and one more hing onwers with dogs with hair thta needs to be cut monthly PLAY with there feet and legs so groomers are not fightsing to cut them
AND brush there damn hair would you like walking around with matts all in your hair
i love my job....
i hate pet owners that are lazy and miss treat there dogs!
i would love to work a a jail i wish work at it when mcheal vic was in he would have never came out happy

I agree with you. I have German Shepherd/Siberian Husky dogs that are brushed everyday. With that and a great dog food, they have the most beautiful coats.

This is nothing new. I worked for a groomer 30 yrs ago and people were the same way. They want the groomer to 'fix' every problem . The problem with working with animals is that you have to deal with the PEOPLE.

Knowing you will never change people, learn to ask the right questions and be specific. Tell them what won't work, flat out. And when they pick up a dog that has been difficult, tell them the trouble you and ask them to do some things before they come back. You can be nice about it - say it with a smile - you know what, Jo Jo gave me a hard time in trimming his legs so I am hoping I got it even. To make sure for next time, can you just try pretend grooming him with your hands?

Try to trim up the dog exactly like the picture. And tell then after you groom them, "you need to brush your dog atleast once a day because of the matting." And if the grooming job is hard, I would charge more.

Some people not be satisfied regardless of what you do.
Explain how certain cuts they want aren't going to work on their dog and suggest things that will.
Have lots of pictures available so people can visualize what you are talking about.
If the dog comes in with mats explain to the owners that they need to brush them more or use a shorter cut. If the dog keeps coming in like that charge for mat removal. Most people don't realize that mats are uncomfortable for the dog not just unpleasing to look at.
