FOX NEWS, despite its trademark "Fair & Balanced" is subject to the whims and security issues of its top executives. More than one story about Monsanto and genetically engineered products has been killed by media executives. However, this statement is also true about the non-profit network PBS. They also need revenue from industry and will not venture into territory that might cause a loss in revenue. An executive will lose his job if he doesn't follow a safe path (consistent with the wants of high dollar sponsors).
Fox represents the extreme right wing view in media. PBS represents the extreme left wing view permitted to media. There is lots of room for argument and debate, however, neither network will talk honestly about:
+ The 9/11 Truth Movement.
+ The massive peace movement in the US right now.
+ The Iraq Winter Soldier Testimonies.
+ Use of depleted uranium in bullets and tank shields.
+ The 'accidental' death of Pat Tillman, shot by a fellow soldier at close range.
+ The deaths of about 500,000 children due to economic sanctions led by the US in Iraq between the two invasions.
+ Extreme Rendition. The practice of shipping suspects to countries for interrogation and perhaps torture.
+ The economic stimulus (or massive bail out) which is nothing less than an economic coup enriching congress friends and bankrupting others. The guilty bankers have been rewarded with the wealth of the treasury. The rich are getting richer during this artificial recession. Banks turn off the lending spigot allowing the cash endowed to line their pockets.
+ Health risks associated with milk and dairy products. (T. Colin Campbell)
The US does not have a free press. The US has a mass media that serves its masters well.
