What do you do with parents that like to judge and criticize?

I'm 24, and don't live near my parents so this is a little different than if I were a teenager. My dad's actually pretty cool, he's unemployed and likes to sit on the couch and drink and smoke and think up ways to become a millionaire. My mom on the other hand is really critical and judgemental. She only likes to keep telling me all these random unimportant things I need to do. How can I get my mom to sort of share in my life but not always keep with her advice and judgements.

Also, you should know I'm considered a pretty good guy by other people.
Yeah, I thought of that pretty much, she doesn't seem to understand that for some reason
 
She is a mother and that is what mothers do.She is not being critical.She is showing concern for you.You are comparing here to your father which is wrong.Sounds like she has a lot of worry in her household .
