What do you do when a stranger asks you Where do you work?

This morning i had a short chat w/ a group of strangers i'd never met who are from my area. I really didn't feel comfortable giving out that info at that point b/c i hardly knew them.

What is the best thing to say when someone asks you a question like that but you would rather get to know them better before divulging that kind of info. Or am i just super paranoid?
