My husband and I agreed to host Thanksgiving dinner at our home this year. Everything was going fine and we were sitting around the table eating dinner. A member of the family began discussing politics, which is a rule in our home. They were then asked twice not to do so. It continued and they were told very calmly not to discuss politics in our home as it is a rule with us.
We were then told that they could discuss anything that they wanted, as they are all adults. They then stormed out of the house telling us that we were no longer invited to any family functions and that we could go f*ck ourselves. I was always taught that if you are in someone else's home that you respect the rules that they lay down, even if you don't agree with them.
Am I wrong?
Sorry for the confusion. A family member began discussing politics, which there is a rule *against* in our home.
