What do sleight of hand and Miss direction mean in the following context?

this is an excerpt from the book Rock Connexions and it is part of the comment of Debbie Harry, the member of the Blondie, about Mick, a photographer who once shot a lot of photos for the band:
"It seemed that he(Mick) was using sleight of hand in our sessions. I thought if Mick were to be a drag queen, his name would be Miss Direction."

I checked the dictionary and knew that sleight of hand means either very skillful use of one's hands or deceiving someone but what does it mean here? Moreover, how does this result to Mick's Drag-Queen-Name being Miss Direction? What does Direction refer to here?
