So I was just reading up on traffic violation court procedures. And I hear it all the time - "When you get to the police station, call your lawyer." or "When you have a court order, call your lawyer."
I was surprised because does this assume that everyone already has a relationship with a lawyer? I was expecting to instead hear "Look in the Yellowpages and call up a lawyer."
So what does it mean to "Call your lawyer"? I don't think everyone has some kind of lawyer friend they always talk to?
