This is my first post and was wondering what do i need to open a NZB file?
where do i get it from and how much to join or pay for this.

Im running windows xp.

Many thanks.

News Rover should be fine, however it's features are rather simplistic when compared to newsleecher or grabit. Or at least the version I tested of it was.

Either will be ok though.

I got your PM Tony and replied to it. If you still have any more questions just ask in this thread, I'll keep an eye out. :)

edit: I merged the two threads, no need for two. :)

1. Download Grabit

2. Setup for Usenet. Usually you can get free limited acces to your own ISP's news server. Usually news.[insertISPhere].net or .com.

3. Double click NZB file, Grabit should open it.

4. Wait for it to finish Downloading

5. Get a program like WinRAR or WinZip and extract the r01, r02, etc... files.

6. Right click on r01 and 'extract here'.

7. If file is incomplete use a program like QuickPar to 'repair' it. Install QuickPar, double click the PAR2 file. Repair. Then try extracting again.

8. If none of this makes since, I tried. :whistling

The user appears to have the flag of St George therefore they will be very lucky to have a proper binary ISP server. Many UK ISP's do offer text only groups. I am afraid it is highly likelly they will have to pay for a premium NSP.

Would news rover be ok?

I've been using Newsrover for years; although some think it's 'simple', in fact the programability of it is supurb. I spent a fair amount of time when I first got it, programming up a lot of the 'special features' that now I take for granted; every once in a while I'll look at something 'newer', but they simply don't hold a candle to how I've got rover set up. Perhaps something else out there has the same flexibility, but it would be like re-inventing the wheel for me.
