Im looking to lift my 1999 ford explorer. Im not exactly sure how to go about it,kinda a newbie to it. Its a 4wd. Just wondering what kind i should get and what tires are best recommended. Im thinking a 2-3" lift. Oh and also a price range would be greatly appreciated.

To get 2 inches out of it, all you need to do is crank the torsion bars, install low profile bump stops and have it aligned. It will clear 33" tires with minor trimming.
Torsion crank.....free
low profile bumps...$35
alignment.....$45

If you want to go higher, you will need a drop down type lift and they start around $1200 plus another $400-$600 to install it.

Or a 2" body lift, but they are not good if you want to off road the explorer.
